Bonjour everyone,

My name is Kévi Donat, I am a licensed Tour Guide and founder of Le Paris Noir. I mostly provide tours and talks about the Black Presence in Paris. The walks are available as private tours (estimate on request) or as open tours (in collaboration with Explore Paris). Here are the multiple options:

A) Street Tours

  •  Pioneers of the Left Bank (2 hours)

The tour begins in the Latin Quarter, a beautiful historic neighborhood, home of the most prestigious schools in town for almost a millennium. It is also where « La Négritude » (a Pan-African literary and political movement) was born. We talk about a hidden French colonial History and later on head to Saint-Germain, an area many iconic African American Expats stayed/worked/loved/lived in after WWII.

  • Swing of the Right Bank (2 hours)

The tour starts in front of the famous Moulin Rouge. First we walk through the streets of Pigalle, a place Parisians used to call « Harlem sur Seine », in honor of its early Jazz scene! Next, we go up to Montmartre to chat about the artistic tradition of the hill and finally end up in La Goutte d’Or, the biggest African neighborhood in town, between multiculturalism and gentrification.

  •  Half Day Tour (3 and a half hours)

A combination of both previous tours. We first explore the Left Bank (Latin Quarter to Saint-Germain) and then hop on the subway for a 15 minutes ride from Saint-Germain to La Goutte d’Or (the African neighborhood) on the Right Bank.

B) Museums and Monuments

  • Panthéon and Abolition(s) (1 and a half hour, ticket included)

This walking tour starts in the Luxembourg Garden where, every year on May 10th, France pays tribute to the slaves of its former colonial Empire. We question the way the Nation faces the legacy of slavery, rebellions and abolitions with a walk through the Pantheon, an impressive neoclassical monument, where the Republic honors its greatest heroes.

– For groups over 6 people, reservations must be made 3 weeks in advance.

  • (De)colonial Louvre (2 hours, ticket included)

Simply the greatest art museum in the World. We focus on the images of People of Color in the galleries and enjoy masterpieces from Ancient civilizations to the mid-19th century (and of course Mona Lisa!).

– For groups over 6 people, reservations must be made 3 weeks in advance.

– Le Louvre is closed on tuesdays.
